In this session of The Smart Passive Income Podcast, I’m extremely happy to welcome Gary Vaynerchuk to the show!
I’ve learned so much from Gary over the past few years. His first book, Crush It!, was a huge inspiration for me and I always share that as required reading for those getting into online business. Actually, I own 3 copies of Crush It! and I don’t have any of them right now because I’ve lent them to friends.
Gary’s new book, Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook : How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World (or JJJRH, for short) [Amazon affiliate link] is a very tactical utility to help us get the most out of our time and effort on social media platforms, which Gary says a lot of brands (especially personal brands) are misusing.
JJJRH is quickly becoming one of my favorite books, and what I love most about it is how Gary shares specific examples from companies that we all know and how they are using social media – what they’re doing right, and more interestingly what they are doing wrong, and what Gary would do to improve their posts for better results.
I’ve already implemented a lot of what I read on my own social media platforms, and I am seeing massive results too. It’s one of those things that when you see it, it makes complete sense and you wonder, “Why didn’t I think of that.”
In this interview, I ask a lot of questions about social media, both for beginners and for those who have established brands too – but we also get to know Gary a little bit better as a person too. We get to see the human side of Gary that’s hard to find sometimes in his publications and presentations.
Also, be sure to listen and check out how you could win one of 50 (yes, fifty!) free copies of JJJRH that I’m giving away to the SPI community. This is money out of my own pocket to give back to Gary for all he’s done for me, and also help give something to you too, so it’s a win for everyone! Details below…

How to Win a Free Copy of Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook
Like I said before, I picked up 50 copies of JJJRH specifically to give away to the SPI community and those who listen to the show. During the interview, Gary and I discussed how to best give away the 50 copies of JJJRH, and here’s what we came up with:
To enter to win, listen to the episode if you haven’t already, and then leave a comment below and share your best social media jab or right hook. You may leave one link to your jab or right hook in your comment—but be sure to only include one link. Any more, and your comment will go to spam.
In addition to the link, please give a small explanation of your strategy with your social media post. Why did you create what you just posted, and what was your thinking behind it? Why do you think it was effective?
One entry/comment per person, and you have until my birthday on December 6th to leave your comment – so that’s a week and a half after this post has been published. After that, I’ll spend the weekend going through the comments, and I believe Gary said he would come by and find a few that he enjoys too.
Since it will be tough to find and rank the top 50 of these, and of course it’s going to be very subjective (i.e. just because one may have more shares or retweets or whatever doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best) here’s what I’m going to do.
Gary and I will figure out 10 that we really enjoy – that’s 10 people who just are completely nailing this jab and right hook concept, and they will be awarded a copy of JJJRH. Out of the pool of other comments, the 40 remaining books will be given away at random. I feel this makes it a little more fair and gives everyone a chance to win one—and of course those who may not be “getting it” would actually need the book more, if that makes sense.
It would make sense to select the bottom 10 instead and give them the book, but we want great comments, and, well, that would just be mean—but I think you get my point.
50 winners: 10 that Gary and I select, and 40 random.
You have until December 6th, 11:59pm PST to leave your comment – any comments made after that will not count (although you’re welcome to contribute), and winners will be contacted via email. The top 10 will be announced here on the blog and within this post by Monday, December 9th.
And there we go! I look forward to reading what you come up with, and good luck to all of you!
Update: Gary has already selected his top 6, I’ll be selecting 4 more, and then 40 will win at random. If I cannot contact you via email, I’ll reply to your jab or right hook so you can get back to me with your email.
Thanks!
Again, thank you so much for your support! Please subscribe to the podcast if you haven’t already and again click here to let me and Gary know you listened and enjoyed this episode!
