- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2010I have never owned a graphics pad before (I must say that the cost was a HUGE factor up until now), but I have always wanted one. Well, when my friend showed me this one I seriously started considering purchasing one. I try not to make purchases on a whim, and I didn't with this one either. After reading reviews on this pad and others, and considering the packaged software that comes with this pad, I figured "What do I really have to lose?" Well, WOW! I am TOTALLY in love with this thing. I am not a graphic artist, and I wasn't looking for a spiffy way to mark up documents, I just wanted an electronic doodle pad. I do a lot of sketches of ideas for clothes and costumes for myself and of things I'd like for my husband to build for me and this is going to make it SO MUCH EASIER. No more sketching and scanning (those NEVER come out as well in digital format as they are in hard copy). This thing is GREAT for having fun. I would recommend it to ANYONE who wants an easy way to translate doodles and drawings into a digital format. It's also really easy to use as a mouse substitute, but I think I'll stick with my mouse as it's easier on me to switch from it (or my touch pad) to the keyboard.
Now for the helpful stuff. Works well with my Windows XP (for what *I* wanted it for). The software alone is worth the price of purchase! It's light, easy to move, and seems sturdy enough. The USB cable is about 4 or 5 feet long, so plenty long enough to find a comfortable spot for it. I am using it with a laptop, so what I have is a really nice wooden clipboard that I set it on. I was a little worried about the rubber feet on the bottom, but I have been holding it (on the clipboard) at a 45 degree angle and it hasn't offered to slip. I personally like the fact that this one isn't a "touchpad" because I like the stability of being able to rest my hand on the pad as I'm drawing (I don't know if the touch pad version is so sensitive that this would be a problem for it or not). Also, for anyone (like myself) who didn't have a clue what the little red WACOM "tag" on the side was all about, it is a pen holder (which I think is a great idea!). I can't speak to the longevity of the product as I have only had it a few days, but if it lasts any time at all I will not be sorry that I bought it.
So basically, I can't speak for anyone who is really "in the know", but for newbies like myself I would DEFINITELY recommend this product!

This product by far is the best product I have ever tested for a PC Pen, although it is my 1st PC Pen. Everything about this PC Pen and Pad was amazing the best. I read other people reviews and did research on several other PC Pen and Tablets before I purchased this one. I actually found out after I purchased this product that a few people in my church also use PC Pen Tablets made by Wacom. They also recommended this product to anyone looking for the best cheap option.
Buttons? This Pen only Has 2 but I Like using my mouse, keyboard and PC Pen at same time:
Everything you want with a PC Pen and Tablet is is available with this product. Unless you are all into buttons.. And if you are.. than this PC Pen and Pad is not for you. Because it only has 1 button that has 2 different functions.
PC Pen Feel:
But to me having extra buttons is not an important thing I want in a PC Pen and Tablet. The PC Pen is like others say slightly uncomfortable to use at 1st and does tend to slip out of your hands at 1st and takes a bit getting use to but after you get use to it, it becomes the perfect Fit to create any drawing your heart desires. If you have small hands, it may be slightly tough but I am sure you can get use to it.
Sensitivity, Tough at 1st, But Becomes Awesome when you get use to it:
The sensitivity with this product at 1st is a little rough to get use to but once you get use to it, it becomes a very easy to use after you have played around with maybe a few hours of drawing. The problem I have with the PC Pen sensitivity, which I can really ignore but others may have a bigger problem is the fact that the sensitivity is really strict on distance from the PC Pad. If you are drawing you have to keep the PC Pen about an inch or an inch an a half near the pad in-order to get the PC Pen to work. But once the point of the pen is in range.. it zoom zoom zooms around so easy. So the sensitivity is fine when in range. Its so smooth its unbelievable. You just have to get use to the fact that the pc pen has to be about an inch or an inch and a half in range. But if you are an artist and are flexible with your hands. That is no problem at all. This feature is so easy to get use to in my opinion.
The Best Option for Low Cost Artists:
In my opinion I think this PC Pen is like everyone else says, the best purchase for anyone that is interested in drawing and doesn't really care about a lot of features. I didn't even have to install the CD and everything about this PC Pen and Tablet came to life. The Price is affordable and the fact that the PC Pen does not need batteries makes the Pen worth the purchase.
PC Tablet:
The Tablet is about half the size of my keyboard in length (from right to left) and about 1 and a half keyboard width (spacebar to F5 / down and up). I believe the PC Tab could have been a little bit bigger but to many other things I believe the Tablet can be easily getting use to. I enjoy the tablet myself. I could not ask for any better product. The Tablet Uses a USB Connection.
IN The Box:
1: PC Pen & PC Tablet
2: The Pen with an already installed Pen Pointer
3: Additional Pen Pointer Replacements
4: Some kind of metal thing You install on the pen. Not sure what it does. Maybe helps people use the pen better. I didn't even need that.
5: Installation CD
6: A Bamboo Pen CD Disk
7: A 6 Page Small Installation and Use-age Guide
The Packaging:
The Packaging for this product was awesome. Was the perfect packaging you could ask for in a product. Everything was nicely organized and protected inside the box. Although you may want to be very careful when trying to open the box with any kind of knife or Scissors because you don't want to point any sharp object directly into the box but only enough towards the outside of the box in order to cut the tape off the box which seals the package.
My Story:
I have used this PC Pen A lot after I have got it, and have not found anything I don't like about it. I do have a few things that bothered me at 1st but I have gotten so use to this PC Pec now that all the problems I had with this Pen have just disappeared because I have adapted to the pen. Its unbelievable what a PC Pen like this one can do if you are not looking for tons of buttons but something small to draw or to design logos or some kind of graphics drawings for your job or business.
I use this PC Pen back to back with Draw Plus X4. I tried to use DPX4 with a mouse to draw and it was so hard I got desperate and looked into buying a PC Pen for Draw Plus X4 and when I did research and found out this was the best choice by many others, I looked at the Price.
The Price is kind of high but I said forget it and bought the Pen. I got medium sized hands. Not small or big hands. But Anyways when I 1st got this PC Pen I tried to practice drawing on a separate sheet of paper and trying to trace my drawings from that and found out the sensitivity would not work through the paper and in fact the sensitivity was cut in half when trying to trace with paper on top of the tablet.
So I decided to try drawing without the paper.. and at 1st is was rough.. but later that night after about 4 hours of practicing drawing.. I found out that this PC Pen.. was amazingly powerful for what I needed it for. It was perfect for what I want to do. Practice makes perfect I guess.
Low Cost Artists or Designers:
But anyways If you are an artist and are really flexible with your fingers and can usually get use to this PC Pen, you will find out that this Product will be your best option most-likely compared to other products because I have compared reviews with this product and other cheap products and people have agreed that Wacom is the best in PC Pen Tablets. And I would have to agree with them. Because this PC Pen has became second nature to me. I can draw anything I want with this thing! And the sensitivity, when you get use to it, is unbelievably amazing!
I would buy another:
If for some reason this PC Pen or Tablet after a few years stopped working, I would most likely purchase another one of these exact models because I don't think I would even need a more expensive product to be honest. But if I decided I would want something more advanced I would stay inside the Wacom brand.
My Rap Up Final Opinion:
I would recommend this product to anyone. Anyone looking for the perfect affordable product, you can find it with Wacom. Thank You for reading. God Bless.
