I have been looking forward to reading this book, and I couldn't wait to tear into the package as soon as UPS brought it to my door.

"ProBlogger" does not disappoint. Each page includes useful tips and techniques for building a successful blog. The chapters include:

    Blogging for Money
    Niche Blogging
    Setting Up Your Blog
    Blog Writing
    Blog Income and Earning Strategies
    Buying and Selling Blogs
    Blog Networks
    Blog Promotion and Marketing
    Secrets of Successful Blogs
    Creating Something Worthwhile

Reading this book from cover to cover will give you a solid education in blogging. It is the most comprehensive and realistic book I have seen on blogging, but it is not overwhelming. It covers everything from choosing a blogging platform and a topic, through design, what (and how often) to post, monetization strategies, interacting with your readers, using social media and getting links, and much, much more.

I found several tips that will help me focus my efforts and produce a better blog.

Once you finish reading the book, keep it near your computer so you can reference it frequently. This is not just a book for beginners. Even experienced bloggers will learn things they can use to gain readership and increase profits.

If you are going to buy a book about blogging, make it this one.

Over the past month or so I've been wanting to get back into blogging and trying to figure out what my personal blog should be focused on. What's my niche? Why do people read my blog? What should I write about? It's the type of questions that I believe every blogger asks at some point in the life of their blog.

Through the course of asking myself these questions, having a couple of conversations with a friend about a new joint-venture in blogging, and looking for some ideas to generate a little extra money on the side I decided to buy a copy of the book ProBlogger by Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett. I'm glad I did.

The sub-title of the book is "Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income," so I was expecting the it to be mostly a "I got rich blogging and here are the ways that you can get rich quickly, too" type of book, but getting rich quick was not really the main focus of the book. There are a few chapters on money-making blogging strategies, but the majority of the book is devoted to helping you figure out how to run an effective blog. In fact, throughout the book the authors stress that most successful/profitable blogs are the result of years of work.

The main takeaway that I got from the book was that the best blogs are ones that focus on a niche market. The more specific the niche the better. Beyond that, the book was filled with practical ideas on how to write content that people want to read and gave numerous specific examples on how to generate ideas for new blog posts.

Overall, I'm really glad I spent the time to read the book. I don't know whether or not I'll make even a dime from blogging, but it has given me some motivation to get back in the game.

If you're new to blogging, a veteran blogger looking for ideas to get unstuck, or trying to figure out how you might make a little money writing in your spare time I highly recommend getting a copy of the book for yourself.

Although, I am a newbie in blogging, I am not in much other aspects of internet business life, so, I can easily spot a books written just to sell their own stuff, or written by author who is not a specialist in his own area.
This is book is perfect in all senses, I can not comment it from a point of view of experienced blogger, I do that for books related to PPC, SE, or SEO, but what can I say here, that book is from extremely talented writers, who invested a great time to write it - guess why? Because it's short and concentrated, and as Mark Twain said - I would make it shorter, if would have a time.
I would buy this book solely only for 20 different blog post types, or idea for series of posts. It sparked my imagination immediately, and I will have topics for write now for long time.
Book is great, and even if you - like me are not interested to make money in blog but make it as your passion for topic - hey, after all - if those suggestions can lead to bucks coming - they undoubtedly will earn you anything else you need, of no money - recognition, friends, - traffic after all.
And it shortens a learning curve dramatically, some of tools mentioned in book was new for me also.

This book is good for the absolute beginner - we're talking Grandma and Grandpa here, folks. It definitely does not earn its title of PRO-Blogger. While it does have some decent ideas and references - albeit just a smidgen under the radar for most of us - it is absolutely not worth purchasing. Instead, spend a few online, and you'll glean everything this book has to offer with your first Google search on the subject. I can't believe that Wiley actually paid money for this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, comprehensive introduction to professional blogging

This is an excellent resource for anyone with an interest in professional blogging. If you have yet to launch your first "pro" blog, buy it today: I wish this had been available before I started mine (The Office Diet) back in January!

Darren Rowse is probably the biggest name in the world of blogs-about-blogging: owner of ProBlogger.com & the Digital Photography School blog and a founding member of the B5 media blog network. He's an expert who can still talk at a level which makes sense to beginners, and in this book, he and Chris Garrett (also an excellent and very well known blogger and blogging consultant) go through the process of creating a professional blog from choosing your topic to promoting, marketing, even selling your blog.

My one reservation when I began reading this book was that I feared it might be too "beginnery" (I've delved deep into the archives on Darren's ProBlogger.com and gleaned a great deal from there.) However, the early chapters were a useful brush-up of knowledge I was a little patchy on in places, and some of the later chapters -- such as those on selling and "flipping" blogs -- have given me a real insight into the high end of blogging!

Even if you're just thinking about starting a "pro" blog, you need this book. And if I've not convinced you yet, check out Darren and Chris's sites, both of which have an amazing wealth of free content. If you like what you read there, you'll love the book. Invest a few pounds and a few hours on it to truly boost your potential for blogging success long-term.

If I make it big with my next blog, I'm pretty sure who'll deserve the thank-you notes...

The Problogger is the blog that you should be reading if you want to learn how to make money blogging and reachthe people that you need to with your own blogging efforts. This book is one of the first books that I bought on the subject of blogging, although I did subscribe to Darren Rowses blog awhile beforehand, but the book is a compilation of content that at some point appeared on his blog in some form or another. The book has recently had it's second edition printed with added stuff, so I'd recommend that one, but even so, this book is very useful for the beginning blogger.

The book deals with important and basic stuff like how to set up your blog, choosing your blogging platform and how to eventually monetize your blog and continually earn money from it. Like any book about an influential person, the book starts out with a story of how Darren began his blogging and how blogging basically took over as a viable source of income.

I recommend this book if you know nothing about blogging at all and want to find out how to make money from blogging.
