SPI 121: A Crash Course on Charisma—A Guide to Winning In-Person Encounters with Jordan Harbinger

If someone were to ask me, “Pat, what’s the one thing I can do, over everything else, that will allow me to see bigger gains and more success in my business?” my answer would be this:

It has nothing to do with conversions or what your website looks like. It doesn’t involve sales pages or content production, but it’s something that if you do well, can help you make the most significant strides in your business.

What is it?

Build as many real relationships as you can—with people in your target audience, and people in and around your niche.

In other words—networking.

In several of the previous interviews here on the podcast (like Session #51 with Tim Ferriss), the person being interviewed contributes a ton of their success to the people who they’ve reached out to and built real relationships with.

I can vouch for this as well. I would not be where I’m at today if it weren’t for the other people in my life—many who I became friends with and gotten to know online, but also in-person.

When Tim launched his first book, The 4-Hour Work Week, it skyrocketed to the top of the New York Times BestSeller list because of all of the real connections he made with other bloggers and influencers leading up to the launch. Nobody knew who he was back then, but he was able to have them be interested in what he had to offer. On launch day, the world eventually screamed “Go buy his book!”—and they did.

I did.

A lot of Tim’s networking was done in person—at conferences and events and things like that—and after attending a few dozens conferences myself over the past 5 years, I can definitely say that there’s nothing like meeting in person in terms of building a true, long-lasting and mutually beneficial connection.

But meeting people in person and being memorable isn’t easy. If you’ve been to conferences, you know that it can be hard to remember people’s names sometimes, let alone what a person is all about. For me, I was the shy guy all throughout my childhood, and even today, I still get incredibly nervous and freeze when trying to approach new people.

There’s an art to being charismatic, which is why I’m super excited to welcome Jordan Harbinger from The Art of Charm and The Art of Charm Podcast to the show today. He’s got an incredibly successful business teaching people how to be confident and put their best self forward, and he shares a TON of tips and strategies for us to help us do the same.

If you’re going to any conferences or meetings anytime soon, this is definitely a podcast episode you should listen to.

Now, know that Jordan’s business is primarily targeted toward men, and dating advice is definitely a part of their content strategy, but in this episode, we talk about universal principles for men and women looking to meet anyone for any reason. I took away a LOT of great, specific and actionable strategies in this episode, and I’m sure you will too.

Thanks Jordan!
